A four-car crash was reported at the scene on a major North Yorkshire road today (October 26).

Fire crews from Pickering, Whitby, Malton and Gotland responded to the road traffic collision on the A169, Failingdales at 7.46am.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “A man and a woman were freed from different vehicles by fire crews by removing the roof, with one victim being transported by an ambulance and the other by a road ambulance.

“A third car went off the road while evading, resulting in no injuries or entrapment, however the fourth car also had a person walking injured who got out of the car on their own.”

As reported by the Gazette and Herald newspaperspolice were also at the scene of the crash, which led to the road being closed before reopening later in the day.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We received reports of a road traffic collision on the A169 near RAF Fylingdales this morning at 07.42am

“Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for force control.

“Please quote reference number NYP-26102022-0081.”
