The Pope said that even priests and nuns succumb to temptation and look at pornography on the Internet.

Francis, answering a question in the Vatican, said: “It is a vice that has so many people, so many laymen, so many laywomen, and priests and nuns. The devil enters from there.”

He said he meant not only “criminal pornography, such as child abuse,” but also “ordinary pornography.”

Pope of Rome urged future priests to delete all such sites from their phones “so that you are not tempted.”

Francis warned: “I tell you, this is what weakens the soul. It weakens the soul. The devil enters from there: he weakens the priest’s heart.”

In 2020, the Vatican became embarrassed when the Pope’s official Instagram account liked the candid photo of Brazilian glamor model Natalya Garibata.

As a result, she claimed to have gained 600,000 followers, and Vatican officials launched an investigation into how this happened.

In Monday’s comments, reported on the Vatican website, the pope also addressed the digital world more generally.

He said people need to “know how to use it well” and not be constantly distracted by things like news and music.

Francis also revealed that he was given a mobile phone when he became bishop 30 years ago – which he described as the size of a shoe.

However, he said he only called his sister once before returning it.
