A Royal expert has slammed the upcoming season of Netflix’s the Crown, as it was revealed the show would depict the tragic final moments of Princess Diana.

Writing in The Sun, Ingrid Seward branded the explosive show “greedy” and “hurtful”, especially for Prince Harry, Prince William and King Charles.

“It’s hurtful to so many people, especially Diana’s sons, William and Harry. They should just leave it alone. It’s in very bad taste and a huge shame. It’s upsetting for quite a lot of people because the events are still raw,” the expert penned.

The royal biographer added: “The earlier depictions in The Crown were quite tasteful but now it’s going into fantasy. I think it’s a great shame they didn’t end the series earlier. But they’ve become greedy and need to keep people signing up for Netflix.”

It comes as Netflix’s The Crown has been slammed as “an insult to the Queen” by a royal expert amid controversy around season five’s storylines.

  • Unhelpful backlash from The Crown causes King’s aides to fret

“They would rather it wasn’t happening but what can they do?”

  • Critics call The Crown’s next series ‘crude, cruel and totally insensitive’

This comes as critics respond to The Crown’s depiction of Princess Diana’s final months leading up to her death, and her untimely passing.

In a recreation of Princess Diana’s death, the Royal Standard is shown draped across her coffin as actors mourn the Princess.

William Shawcross, the Queen Mother’s official biographer, slammed: “Nothing is sacred to [the writer of The Crown] Peter Morgan. He has made his republican sentiments and his contempt for our late Queen very clear.

“This is a vile series which lies to the public and has been incredibly hurtful to the Royal Family from the Queen and our new King down. Unlike any other family, they cannot sue,” reported the Daily Mail.

  • Ulrika Johnson slams Meghan Markle for ditching her principles to ‘get ahead’

Television presenter Ulrika Johnson has attacked Meghan Markle for abandoning her principle to “get ahead”.

Writing for The Sun, she said: “She may not want to admit it, but Meghan clearly saw it as one and was willing to sacrifice her overwhelming cerebral capabilities to be seen on screen and take her chances.

“If she’s so smart, clever, wise and savvy, why did she not object at the time to her own perception of what she would be representing and what she would be viewed as?

“She didn’t because she had ambition burning a hole in her principles and she was quite willing to use that role as a steppingstone to bigger and better things.

“She was quite willing to forgo any of the strongly held fundamentals she had at the time for the sake of furthering her career.”

The date was chosen so it does not clash with Eurovision which is held a week later in Liverpool and football cup finals at the end of the month and early June.

May has also got the nod as weather experts predict pleasant weather for the ceremony that will be watched on telly by millions around the globe.

Camilla will be crowned alongside her husband, just as the Queen Mother was by King George VI in 1937.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe has warned that while Meghan Markle is no longer a working royal, the King “will be watching” her in “a business sense”.

He told Fox News Digital:”[King] Charles’ modus operandi has been to pretty much try and ignore any stuff that’s written and said about him.

“But, on Meghan, I would be very, very surprised if he weren’t being made aware of every kind of keynote interview and commercial stuff because they have to. It’s the Royal Family brand.

“So yes, he will be watching, it will be far more in a business sense. He won’t want her to be saying things that could be damaging to the reputations of the royal family and, in particular, things that, in his opinion, are utterly untrue and unfair.”

  • Netflix claims ‘The Crown has always been presented as a drama’

A spokesman for Netflix said: “The Crown has always been presented as a drama based on historical events.
