Dodgers ‘could be serious players’ if Yankees star Aaron Judge trades

The Dodgers are reportedly the top contenders to sign Aaron Judge after his historic season with New York Yankees.

Judge hit an AL record 62 home runs this season, but his and the Yankees’ campaign ended Sunday night in a 4-0 series loss to the Houston Astroswho reached the World Series.

Judge is now in free agency, and according to a report in Sports Illustrated , the Dodgers could make a move for the 30-year-old. This could be an attractive option for Judge, as he was born in California.

If he ends up trading the East Coast for the West, the publication says it could cause a reshuffle in how the Dodgers use Mookie Betts.

Betts could move from right field to second base to accommodate Judge, while MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand suggests three players could leave the Dodgers to make around $100 million in place for the Dodgers to offer Judge a big salary.

Trea Turner, Craig Kimbrel and Joey Gallo are a trio that could be on the move.

The judge, for his part, is unsurprisingly coy about his future.

The 30-year-old judge claimed that he “didn’t even think” about his future

“It will all go through my agent. I haven’t even thought about the next step yet,” he told reporters after the Yankees’ season ended. “But like I said, we have time to figure it out.”

Judge gently hinted that he would like to stay with the Yankees, adding, “I’ve been clear about that since I first put on the pinstripe.

“But we weren’t able to do something until spring training. I’m a free agent. Let’s see what will happen.”
