The one where the fans had no idea about their favorite Friends steam actually had feelings for each other.

During a special reunion of the cult NBC series HBO Max, Aniston and Schwimmer admitted that they were in love with each other in the first season.

As Schwimmer explained, “Yeah, in the first season we … I had a huge crush on Jen.” Aniston replied, “It was mutual.”

So why did real-life co-stars Ross and Rachel never officially get together?

“At one point we were both very much in love with each other,” Schwimmer explained, “but it was like two ships had sailed because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that line. We respected that. But we both—”

Matt LeBlanc then interrupted to say, “Bulls… I’m kidding,” continuing to speculate that the co-stars may have shown off a small PDA on set.

“Honestly, I remember telling David once, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I kiss is on national television,'” Aniston admitted. “And indeed, the first time we kissed was in that cafe.”

But the co-stars made the most of their time together on set, and Schwimmer said, “I remember the first year or two, you know, when we had breaks in rehearsals, there were moments where we would cuddle on the couch.” Aniston added: “Otherwise we would have spooned and fallen asleep on the couch.”

Finally, Schwimmer admitted, “I mean, how did everyone not know we were falling for each other?”
