Tuesday October 25 was a day to remember for British politician Rishi Sunak as he was elected as the new leader of the UK Conservative Party and became the new UK Prime Minister following the resignation of Liz Truss.

Sunak is of Indian origin and his appointment brought joy to many Indians as they shared their happiness on various social media platforms including Twitter. However, many mistook Sunak for a former Indian cricketer and fast bowler Ashish Nehra and shared a photo of Negri praising a young Virat Kohli on Whatsapp.

Azharuddin debunks the false statement

Many felt that Nera and Sunak resembled each other and also posted pictures of them side by side on the micro-blogging site Twitter as an element of proof and justification for their claims.

However, amid all this chaos, former Indian cricketer and captain Mohammed Azharuddin posted a tweet using the same ‘viral’ photo of Nehra and Virat and captioned it, “The real stars in the photo are @imVkohli with @ashishnehra1. This is not the new UK Prime Minister. of the Minister, which is shared on #WhatsApp”.

Twitter was flooded with hilarious tweets about the similarities between Sunak and Negri, while some users actually mistook Sunak for Nehra, others just posted humorous tweets based on the comparison. The viral photo that is doing the rounds dates back to a time when Virat Kohli was just starting to play club cricket and Nehra was an established fast bowler. As both hail from Delhi, there is a strong bond between them.
