A man was arrested yesterday following a firearms operation in Little Halton.
Specialist firearms officers executed a warrant on Armitage Avenue in Little Halton at around 3.15pm on Saturday.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of misusing a firearm and aggravated assault.
He remains in police custody for questioning by Salford detectives.
Greater Manchester Police Chief Inspector Chris Boyd said: “I am pleased with the outcome of this warrant and hope it will reassure the public that Greater Manchester Police will not hesitate to take decisive action against those suspected of carrying firearms.
“When we receive information about their use, we act quickly to reduce the potential threat. Fortunately, in this case the crime under investigation was isolated and does not pose a threat to the wider community.”
