The new version of Asgardeo IDaaS integrates with Choreo digital PaaS to go beyond access control and help create a rich, secure, personalized experience; expands CIAM in addition to B2C to support the robust management of a B2B organization

As organizations manage more of their business through digital channels, it becomes important to move beyond the security of first-generation customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions. Instead, businesses need to create a holistic view of each customer that extends across their business systems to deliver a rich, secure and personalized digital experience. WSO2 delivers on the promise of this next-level CIAM with the latest version of Asgardeo’s Identity as a Service (IDaaS), which adds integration to Choreo, WSO2’s digital platform as a service (digital PaaS).

The new version of Asgardeo also builds on the extensive capabilities of the cloud-based business-to-consumer (B2C) platform, adding robust business-to-business (B2B) support through new B2B organization management functionality.

Both Asgardeo and Choreo abstract from the complexity of Kubernetes, so development teams can focus on the business logic of the digital experience they deliver. This aligns with the priorities of businesses that took part in a recent study by WSO2 in Great Britain and Ireland (UK&I). Among those surveyed, 76% say developers in their organizations could be more productive if they didn’t have to spend so much time on IAM and CIAM issues. The study points to the growing adoption of software as a service (SaaS) to free up understaffed development teams from managing underlying infrastructure so they can focus on innovating new digital services and applications that deliver business value.

Enabling CIAM Beyond Access Management

It provides hundreds of off-the-shelf integrations, including connections to commonly used customer relationship management (CRM), marketing, and business applications. Choreo also offers developers both high-code and low-code approaches to programmatically extend the integration of legacy, off-the-shelf, cloud, or software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, and orchestrate flows as needed.

Now, thanks to Asgardeo’s integration with Choreo, developers can create personalized and secure customer experiences in hours by integrating multiple services or applications where user business profiles and interaction data are managed, and exposing that data as APIs to applications and Login and registration flows are served by Asgardeo.

Additionally, when a customer registers, logs in, or updates their user profile, Asgardeo sends pre- and post-event streams to Choreo, where a developer can easily integrate various business services and applications to propagate these state changes or initiate actions. For example, if a user updates their consent settings to participate in marketing emails, Asgardeo notifies Choreo, which will then update the relevant marketing systems to include the customer in email support campaigns. Developer may also update user profile, account status, security settings and risk factors in Asgardeo based on user interactions in various other services.

Expansion of CIAM from B2C to B2B

As organizations expand their online presence, they are looking for new ways to provide secure and seamless customer interactions (CX)—whether they reach those customers through B2C or B2B models. The new release of Asgardeo builds on its extensive B2C functionality by adding a new B2B organization management feature that provides robust support for B2B scenarios.

Unlike other CIAM products that are limited to simple organization management, B2B organization management in Asgardeo handles the complex investment, enabling businesses to:

  • Define as many organizations and as many levels of sub-organizations as necessary to represent large enterprise customers and their hierarchical organizational structures, each with its own secure space to manage user IDs and access privileges.
  • Define multi-level delegated administration policies for organizations to manage their own user credentials and access privileges.
  • Let each organization manage their own role-based access controls to restrict access to their resources.
  • Define organizations for intermediaries in distribution channels, such as resellers and distributors, and let them define their own security policies and workflows for customer registration, sign-in, branding, and adaptive authentication to manage their enterprise customers.
