Sale winger Tom Roebuck is set to join the England squad on Monday ahead of their training camp in Jersey – after being called up in response to injuries last weekend.
The Scottish-born 21-year-old has been called up by the head coach Eddie Jones after Henry Arundel and Jonny May joined the growing list of casualties in the ill-fated Irish-Gloucester London game in Brentford on Friday evening.
Arundel is believed to have aggravated a foot injury while May is suspected to have a sprained elbow, which could lead to another lengthy layoff.
Sale winger Tom Roebuck will join England this week ahead of their training camp in Jersey
Roebuck was called up in place of May as a reward for scoring three tries in Sale’s winning streak earlier this Premier League season.
He scored twice ahead of Jones as the Sharks dismantled the Irish at home on Friday October 14 to continue an impressive introduction to senior rugby.
Having already featured for England under-18s and under-20s, Roebuck was widely heralded as a balanced and physically imposing runner.
After making his Sale debut in January this year, he showed his scoring instincts with six tries in his first six appearances.
The 21-year-old scored twice in front of manager Eddie Jones against London Irish this month
