The family of Princeton University student Misrah Youneti has slammed police for leaving them “in the dark” after it was revealed the cause of her death could take weeks.

Evuneti, 20, of Euclid, Ohio — near Cleveland — was found dead on the Ivy League campus six days after she disappeared on Oct. 14.

Her family reported her missing after being unable to contact the sociology student and said police had kept them in the dark throughout the search.

“There is no constant updating or interaction with us,” Universe said CNN. “We are really being kept in the dark.”

Police officials told Universe that the investigation will take time.

Her body was found near the tennis courts on Thursday. Sources said the body showed no signs of trauma, and the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office said, “Her death does not appear to be suspicious or criminal in nature.”

An autopsy was performed Friday, but the medical examiner’s office is still awaiting the results of toxicology and other tests, said Casey DeBlasio, a spokesman for the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office. CNN.

Yunetti was last seen on Oct. 14 around 3 a.m. outside the Scully Hall residence hall at Princeton University, where she lived.

Universe reported that on Oct. 13, Misrah was volunteering at Princeton’s Terrace Club, one of the school’s 11 private clubs.

The Terrace Club is one of the non-private clubs at Princeton, requiring members only to sign up for membership, and is not affiliated with the university. Clubs are for high school students to dine and participate in various activities.

Other clubs require prospective members to apply to join.

She was “on duty” – performed housekeeping duties during live music in the club.

The club was hosting Raavi with Jackie Marshall that night, he said Instagram page.

After closing the club and completing all duties, Misrah, along with the other attendants, retired for the night.

After the event, “she went back to the dorm at 3 a.m.,” her brother said. “Her roommates said they saw her at 3am. Then her other roommate said she didn’t see her after 4 a.m. and no one saw her after that.

“Her housemates didn’t look for her because they assumed she had gone home.”

Her body was found 1.5 miles from her home, in an area off State Road, near the university’s recreation department, which has a walking path, community pool and sports facilities.

Yuneti’s disappearance sparked a days-long manhunt for her whereabouts, which saw drones, helicopters and watercraft deployed around the Ivy League university.

Campus police visited Evuneti’s residential area three times and conducted searches with dogs, but were unable to enter any of them due to lack of search warrants.

It was previously revealed that her cell phone last pinged early Sunday morning from a location seven miles from campus.

Ping was located in a New Jersey housing complex near Penn’s Neck.

No further details about this ping have been released since Evuneti’s body was discovered.

Princeton’s vice president for campus life, W. Rachelle Calhoun, called Yunetti’s death “an unimaginable tragedy.”

“Our hearts go out to her family, friends and the many others who knew and loved her,” she said in a statement.

“We are planning an opportunity for students to come together and remember Misrah. Information about the meeting will be announced separately when the details become known.

A school spokesman added: “We have no further information at this time.”

Universe also said that school has been “hard for her and a lot of people” as they’ve missed a lot of in-person classes due to the pandemic.

“Due to the pandemic, they weren’t on campus the first year, so it was hard for her and a lot of people,” Universe explained. The family emigrated from Ethiopia in 2008.

“But this year she was trying to get into the Terrace Club, and that was her way of making friends.”

Evuneti is a 2020 graduate of Minds Matter Cleveland, a program that helps low-income students. Sarah Ellagad, the nonprofit’s executive director, told CNN that her former student’s disappearance was highly unusual.

“It’s completely out of character for her to intentionally go off the radar or stay out of touch with her family,” Elagad said. “We are supporting her family as they assist law enforcement in safely locating her.”

The group also posted a video on its Twitter account, saying Evuneti worked with the group for “three years” to get into “the college of her dreams.”

The group helps low-income, high-achieving students get into an academic school.

‘She [was] an incredible student,” Elagad said in the video.

“She was thrilled when she got into Princeton,” Charles Slife said in the video.

They later said they were “devastated” by the loss of the student.

Yuneti was a high school senior studying sociology with a minor in computer science at Princeton, according to Planet Princeton.

Her family members, who have lived in Ohio since 2008 but are originally from Ethiopia, say her disappearance caused even more concern after she missed an appointment the next day regarding her citizenship application.

“She is the pearl of the house, [my parents’] the only daughter and the youngest, said the Universe. “She is very much loved.”
