The self-proclaimed “best bar band in the world” is an American supergroup. Hollywood The Vampires will open their UK tour next year in Scarborough on Wednesday 5 July 2023 – the country’s largest purpose-built outdoor concert arena.

The band, including Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and guitarist Tommy Henriksen, are the first headliners for Scarborough Open Air Theater’s summer season next year.

Frontman Alice Cooper said: “Well, it’s been three years since Vampires toured. I can’t wait to get back with the guys, I really love being in this group. My band is fine and dandy, but playing with Vampires is a completely different situation.

“We’re going to rock those places, especially England, I can’t wait to get to England! Lock the doors, sprinkle the garlic, because the vampires are coming!”

Hollywood Vampires’ tradition is to play exuberant tributes to “the great lost heroes of music” – including The Who, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and Motörhead – alongside original material from the studio album Get up.

The band first got together to record in 2015, united by a shared love of their favorite songs and a desire to celebrate their “dead, drunken friends”. They are named after Alice Cooper’s drinking club in the 1970s, which included the likes of John Lennon, Keith Moon and Mickey Dolenz.

Joe Perry added: “We can’t wait to play songs from our latest album, Get up, for all our fans across the pond. The excitement is building as we count down the days!”

Supporting the tour as special guests are South African rockers Seether, who have amassed a global fan base and an impressive history including 17 number one singles and over two billion streams worldwide.

Peter Taylor, OAT venue programmer in Scarborough, said: “This is a major coup for the open air theater in Scarborough. Hollywood Vampires return to the UK for the first time in five years and we’re delighted that this highly anticipated tour includes a date on The Yorkshire Coast.

“I’m sure rock fans will love this – the first of many exciting announcements we’ll be making here at Scarborough Open Air Theater over the next few weeks. Go in the summer of 2023 – it’s going to be amazing!”
