A groom was shot dead at his own wedding ‘by mistake’, leaving his devastated bride covered in blood.
Marco Antonio, 32, was shot as he walked to a wedding car after a ceremony at a church in Caborca, Mexico.
An IT engineer is believed to have been mistakenly targeted by rival cartel gangs in the city.
His wife was tragically depicted in a blood-stained dress, being helped by a loved one.
Antonio’s sister was also shot in the back local media.
Officials have confirmed that Antonio died as a result of a “direct attack” with a firearm and his death may have been a “mistake”.
Carboca is home to the infamous Caborca Cartel, run by drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero.
The gang is currently at war with the Los Salazar network over drug trafficking operations.
The prosecutor’s office said: “The investigation shows that the attack on Marco Antonio was aimed at another man who also got married at the same time in another nearby town.
“No line of inquiry is being ruled out and all necessary forensic and field ballistics reports are being conducted to fully establish the facts and find those responsible to bring justice.”
That same night, another groom was shot dead at a wedding in a nearby town.
The state’s governor, Alfonso Duraza, said: “This was an attack designed for one person, and that means it will not happen to anyone.”
