Productivity Enhancements in visionOS 2

A major highlight of the visionOS 2 update is the boost in productivity features, including new Mac Virtual Display options and gestures. Users will now be able to create dual 4K virtual displays, simulating an ultrawide setup, whereas previously, the Vision Pro supported only a single 5K Mac Virtual Display. The update also introduces mouse support, allowing users to connect a mouse along with a physical keyboard like Apple’s Magic Keyboard. Additionally, new hand gestures for the Control Center, checking the current time, battery level, and adjusting volume are part of the update.

Enhanced Photos App

The Photos app in visionOS 2 will now enable users to create spatial photos. Leveraging advanced machine learning, visionOS 2 can transform 2D images into spatial photos. Moreover, the update brings SharePlay to the Photos app, allowing users to share and view spatial photos and videos with friends and their Spatial Personas.

Expanded Travel Mode

Initially, the Vision Pro’s Travel Mode was designed for use on airplanes. With the visionOS 2 update, this functionality extends to train travel, giving users access to their favorite apps while on the train. Additionally, Vision Pro now supports Guest Users, allowing friends to use the headset and save their eye and hand data for 30 days.

Broader Availability for Vision Pro

Alongside these new features, the Apple Vision Pro will be available in more countries. It will launch in Canada, Australia, France, Germany, and the UK on July 12, with pre-orders starting at 5 a.m. PT on June 28. The headset will also be released in mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore on June 28, with pre-orders beginning at 6 p.m. PT on June 13.
