Cipriani has made 16 appearances for England since his breakthrough in 2008

Former England midfielder Danny Cipriani is set to return to rugby for the Barbarians against Northampton next month.

He has not played since, but is understood to be expected to play in the famous invitational group at Franklin’s Gardens on November 26.

The Baa-Baas also play the All Blacks XV, Harlequins and Bath this autumn.

Cipriani has 16 caps for England and two appearances for Wasps, as well as spells for Melbourne Rebels, Sale and Gloucester.

Despite only winning a handful of England caps since his breakthrough in 2008, Cipriani has excelled at Premier League level and earned Eddie Jones a recall to the England squad for 2018.

In his only appearance under Jones, he helped lead England to victory over South Africa in Cape Town in his final cap for his country.

Northampton hosted the Barbarians after their Premier League tie with Worcester was called off, with Queens and Bath following suit.

England internationals Dan Robson and Brad Shields, who were among the 167 sacked following Wasps’ administration, are also set to feature for the Barbarians, as are former Saints title holders Tom Wood and Luther Burrell.

Meanwhile, the Barbarians have also made significant additions to their coaching staff with ex-Wasps head coach Lee Blackett and ex-Leicester director of rugby Jordan Murphy.
