Cairo was found in a Las Vegas-style suitcase by a mushroom hunter on April 16 80 feet off Holder Road, a cul-de-sac in an isolated area of southeastern Washington County in southern Indiana.

Court documents show Anderson and Coleman were identified as suspects after their fingerprints were matched to prints on the garbage bag in which Cairo was wrapped.

Police were also able to track the cellphones of two women in the area where the suitcase was found on April 14, two days before it was discovered.

On the day the suitcase was discovered, a 2019 Dodge Challenger registered to Anderson was caught on camera traveling southbound on I65 over the bridge from Indiana to Kentucky.

Police investigating Cairo’s death came across a series of social media accounts linked to Anderson and Coleman that indicated they thought they were “living with a demonic child”.

Court documents describe a series of social media posts made by the two women. In February of this year, Anderson wrote: “I had to raise my frequency, heal myself and past lives, heal my ancestors, heal the crap in the universe, heal Gaia to expel a very powerful demonic force from within my son.”

In another, in April, Coleman wrote: “You better check to see if the children you think are children actually have souls or are not evil beings with souls.”

Photos and videos on Coleman’s social media also show her with a suitcase in Las Vegas, court documents state.

A month before Cairo opened, on March 12, the same Dodge Challenger Anderson was driving at the time led police on a 30-mile chase in South Carolina. Coleman and the child were in the car at the time.

According to court documents, the chase began when she was driving 92 mph on a 60 mph road. The chase continued until her car ran out of gas.

After the chase, neither Anderson nor Coleman would open the car door to let police into the car, so they had to break the driver’s side rear window to get into the car.

Anderson was then taken to the Colleton County Jail, while Coleman and the boy were taken to the nearby Hilton Hotel. During her arrest, Anderson told police that Coleman was her sister.

Just a few weeks later, on March 31, Anderson was arrested again. She was caught hiding things in a shopping mall bag and when a security guard found out about the theft, she punched them in the face.

She was then taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Kentucky.

For six months, the people of Indiana have searched for answers about the unidentified boy.

An autopsy report released in May said only that the boy, now named Cairo, died of electrolyte deficiency, likely due to vomiting or diarrhea.

In June, the funeral of the child, whose identity was unknown at the time, took place. His tombstone reads: “In loving memory of a beloved little boy known only to God.”

“This child, when he moved to Washington County, in such a horrific way, he became our adopted son,” Washington County Secretary Rodney Sweeney said.

In a tribute to his son, Vincent Jordan wrote: “My heart was broken into a million pieces today. I received a call from an officer telling me that my five year old son Cairo Jordan (who ironically turns six today) was killed by his mother Dejuan Anderson in Indiana on April 14, 2022.

“October 25 is his birthday, and only now have I been informed of his death. My family and I have spent the last three years searching for Dejuan and Cairo.

“She took him away at the start of our custody battle back in 2017, she threatened to call the police on me for coming to pick him up on an agreed weekend.

“She never showed up in court and it kills me because that weekend was the last time I saw my son.

“I swear you don’t know the pain, as a father I feel defeated, it was the only thing I feared on this earth.”
