Verdict: Five stars.

Robbie Williams proved to be the ultimate showman when he celebrated 25 years as a solo act at the Hydro on Monday night.

The star shone from head to toe on Glasgow, dressed in gold stage where he boldly stated, “Let me introduce myself again, I’m Robbie F***ing Williams.”

And he did just that in typical Robbie fashion fashion as he delivered Let Me Entertain You, taken from his debut album Life Thru A Lens.

Strong’s anthem followed Williams, now 48, flattering: “I bloody love you Glasgow.”

And it was clear the admiration was mutual as Hydro fans soaked up every inch of the star from his on-stage banter to his wild dance moves.

A surprise cover of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back Anger delighted the crowd, while The Flood’s tribute to Take That’s 2010 comeback was a highlight.

After looking back for a moment, the singer told the crowd that he had been sober for 22 years before performing an arrangement of Eternity, which appeared on his latest album XXV. He then dedicated a song to Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, to whom he credited his sobriety.

Throughout the show, the singer reminded fans of his incredible back catalogue, which featured his writing talents as well as Guy Chambers.

During the nineties and zeros, they created many hits.

Old Before I Do reflects the Britpop era when the singer began his solo career, while the strings of Supreme showcase the versatility of his sound.

The sultry Kids duet he made with Aussie pop star Kylie allowed the spotlight to shine on his talented backing vocalists before Williams brought his rapping skills to the Rock DJ arena.

A natural entertainer, Williams thrives on the live stage and it’s contagious.

You can’t help but admire his charisma, and perhaps that’s the reason he’s lasted more than three decades in music industry.

With a smile, he beamed: “There’s something about you here, it’s different,” before dedicating his final anthem to Angels Scotland while draped in a saltire.
