In less than three weeks, Indian Premier League franchises will be releasing their players and one big name that could be released from Delhi Capitals is Shardul Thakur. Delhi Capitals are ready to release the Indian all-rounder to buy him at a lower price in the IPL 2023 auctions.

Thakur is currently in Australia with the Indian side participating in the T20 World Cup 2022. Although he is not officially in the squad, he acts as one of the reserve players. Thakur’s performance might not have been fully in line with the asking money considering he was bought by the Capitals for Rs 10.75 crore.

He appeared in 14 games last season and managed just 120 runs. Despite taking 15 wickets, the 31-year-old’s economy rate was close to 10 and his average was 31.5. He was a standout player for his previous team, Chennai Super Kings, but his first season with the Capitals was a little below average.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Thakur is highly likely to be released and the other players who could join him are K.S. 2 crores INR respectively.

Andhra’s KS Bharat, one of the best wicket-keepers in the country, could not make it into the starting line-up as captain Rishabh Pant kept the wickets. Mandeep, on the other hand, may not have hit the big mark with just 18 runs in three games.

The IPL auctions will be held on December 16

Teams must report Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) players they intend to release no later than November 15. The auction is likely to take place on December 16 either in Bengaluru or Istanbul, Turkey. The trade window for the upcoming edition of the tournament opened after the conclusion of the 2022 edition, but there has been no activity on that front.
