The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is celebrated in honor of the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty’s service to the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Kingdoms and the Commonwealth.

The festivities will begin with a drum-beating ceremony by a police band at 8 a.m. on June 2 in open cars along the main road from Henderson Police Station to White River among bands waving flags along highways in various parts of the city.

Later on Thursday evening, from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm, the Anglican Cathedral of St. Barnabas will host a Thanksgiving, cake-cutting and bonfire service.

The Thanksgiving service is limited to invited guests and dignitaries due to covid-19 protocols.

The services will be attended by Acting Governor-General and Speaker of the Solomon Islands National Parliament Patterson Otti, Prime Minister Monace Sogavar, Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer, British High Commissioner Thomas Coward and Lord Mayor Honey. Siapu.
