Princess Charlene today looked solemn when she appeared at an official engagement to her husband Prince Albert of Monaco second week in a row.

The royal couple was joined by their seven-year-old twins, Princess Gabriela and Prince Jacques, at the Sainte Dévote rugby tournament hosted by Princess Charlene.

The 44-year-old Charlene has rarely been seen with Albert since she spent about 10 months there South Africa last year. She contracted a serious sinus infection during a charity trip, which resulted in her being hospitalized and delayed her return to Monaco.

She returned home in November, but almost immediately left for Switzerland for treatment of “exhaustion”.

Today’s photos mark the second time members of the Monaco royal family have been seen in public together as a family after Charlene returned to the principality after treatment.

Last weekend, the family visited the E-Prix in Monaco, and Charlene’s return to public life was described as “an event that the principality has been waiting for many, many months.”

Today, the royal face was dressed in a navy blue midi dress with an open collar at the buttons and a detail at the waist. She paired a chic dress with simple black kitten heels, and wore platinum-blonde hair hooked back.

In recent months, Charlene has faced a variety of health problems, including what the palace previously called a “state of deep general fatigue” that did not pay attention to her.

The Palace of Monaco constantly denies media reports of a rift between Charlene and the head of the principality, Prince Albert, who married in 2011.

Rumors that the couple was incompatible arose from the beginning, and Charlene attracted a flurry of attention because of the apparent dose of pre-wedding excitement that reportedly led to her seeking asylum at her country’s embassy and nicknamed “The Runaway Bride” ».

For the first time, Charlene spent 10 months in her native South Africa, where she became infected and was hospitalized due to a serious sinus infection that delayed her return to Monaco.

In October, she underwent surgery for an ear, nose and throat infection after being registered under a pseudonym at Durban Hospital, a source at the palace said at the time.

Earlier, friends told Six that the mother of two “almost died” when she was home, while her husband said she suffers from “emotional and physical exhaustion.”

“She was clearly exhausted physically and emotionally. She was depressed and could not cope with work responsibilities, life in general or even family life, ”Albert told People magazine in November.

A palace statement issued Dec. 23 said Albert and the couple’s children planned to visit Charlene during Christmas holidays, and with a request to respect the privacy of the family.

It adds that the princess “is healthy and reassuring, although it may be several months before her health reaches full recovery.”

But prominent royal journalist Stephen Byrne has long suggested that the litany of alleged Charlene health problems could be just a cover-up to justify her from engaging in royal activities with her husband.

Last January, Berne said Charlene was supposed to visit French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, but suddenly fell ill.

“The princess suddenly fell ill with gastroenteritis,” he said.

“The palace had to call the suffering princess so often that it is hard for the Monegasques to believe today. The weeping wolf, Jacques and Gabriela’s mother, discredited and isolated herself. “
