Welcome to our daily rumor article brought to you Betway Sports

Donnie and Dally: Thomas Drance on Bo Horvat’s contract situation with the Vancouver Canucks. Rick Dhaliwal isn’t sure the two sides will talk after the season starts.

“Players of Horvath’s caliber often don’t want to get involved in contract negotiations during the season. It’s just standard operating procedure.

Dhaliwal: “Especially in the Canadian market.”

Drance: “According to what Rick said, the same agent, Pat Morris, had Jacob Markstrom at the time, right. They weren’t going to talk during the season, but they did the right thing in part. I mean, Markstrom wasn’t heavily involved. They didn’t come as close as they should have, but it’s not like they completely stopped all conversation.

And we know because we went through Jacob Markstrom’s expansion, will they or won’t they, just two years ago. We’ve tracked this before.

I’d be surprised if Horvath was interested in talking during the season, but I’d also be surprised if there was any kind of statement from Morris. They really didn’t do that with Markstrom. Markstrom himself just said that he will focus on the season. But in my opinion, Morris tends to work in a relatively stylish, low-key way, doesn’t he? This is his advantage. We saw how it all played out with Markstrom. I suspect we’ll see something similar as Horvath’s contract talks wind down.

Yes, the parties seem to be looking at a loophole here. They were looking for a break with Brock Boeser and then it was done. They were looking at breaking up with JT and then it got to the point where they were comfortable doing a deal.

Will that happen with Bo Horvat, or has the dynamic changed now that they’ve been looking for JT Miller? That’s a big question for me, yes. I’ve been saying this for weeks, but what I’m hearing is that once the Canucks dealt with Miller, I think their insistence on closing this particular deal lessened. How I just think it has decreased.

So we’ll see where it goes, but I really think it’s certainly got drag written all over it.
