Adam Sully’s first-half goal ended Ards’ losing streak as Matthew Tipton’s men beat Dundale 1-0 at Clandeboye Park.

Annie Hygiehon almost came back to haunt his old club in the fourth minute when the striker hit the target with a fine header, but Alex Moore got down on the right to make a superb save.

Ards made Dundela pay in the 13th minute when Eamon Scannell burst through the center of the east Belfast club’s defense before the ball fell into Sally’s path. The Portadown loanee fired the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Scannell almost scored one in the 21st minute but Duns keeper Neil Shields saved his powerful kick.

At the other end, Tony Kane twice skimmed the woodwork on two separate occasions, slotting home free-kicks from 20 yards. In the second half, Moore hit a 30-yard field goal from a setup specialist and Ards held on for a narrow victory.

Elsewhere, league leaders Loughgall beat Newington Boys 2-1. Nedas Machulaitis and Ben Murdoch scored for the Vielskovci either side of Robbie McWarnock’s equaliser. Visiting captain Richard Gowdy was sent off with the score 1:1.

Warrenpoint Town beat Anna United 1-0 as Ray O’Sullivan scored on the hour and BJ Banda scored for Ballinamallard United in their 1-0 win away to Harland & Wolfe Velders.”

The Institute beat Ballyclare Comrades 2-0 at the Brandywell with Sean Lepard and Cathair Friel on target.
