Edinburgh (Karnataka) [India]May 20 (ANI): Karnataka State Education Minister Dr Ashwat Narayan on Friday invited Edinburgh University officials to open a campus in Bangalore, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the UK as well as worldwide.

During his visit to the 450-year-old university based in Scotland, he held discussions with the university’s top management and made the proposal.

“The National Education Policy (NEP 2020) in Karnataka is paving the way for the internationalization of education. In addition, the University of Edinburgh is renowned for interdisciplinary education, which is also the core of the NEP. These factors contribute to the Edinburgh University campus in Bangalore.” he explained.

Meanwhile, Minister Narayan also held consultations on cooperation in higher education, and discussed the introduction of “Twinning courses”.

He visited the Bayes Center, which is an incubation and unique model of a multidisciplinary educational center on the campus of the University of Edinburgh. The Minister also witnessed the work of the Robot Laboratory, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Centers located at the center.

The Minister also discussed the possibilities of cooperation with VTU Belagavi in ​​the fields of artificial intelligence, mechatronics and cybersecurity.

Representatives of the University of Edinburgh responded positively to the proposals of the Minister. On this occasion, the Minister also invited representatives of the University to take part in the silver jubilee event of the Bengal Technical Summit (BTS-22), which is scheduled to take place in a grand manner in November.

Mr. Kumar Nayak, ACS, Department of Higher Education, P. Prodip, Commissioner, DCTE, Dr. Gopal Joshi, ED, State Council for Higher Education, and Dr. Bhanu Murtie, VC, BASE, also attended the meeting. (ANI)
