Due to illness, the heavyweight bout between Huey Fury and Michael Hunter is not scheduled for July 2.

BOXXER announced the delay on Wednesday without a new date.

Fury, who organized this training camp in Cannes, France, tried to train through illness, but his father and coach Peter Fury today decided to suspend the camp to give his son time to fully recover.

“On behalf of myself and my son, we apologize to the fans, but above all to Hunter and his team, because, like us, they went through a difficult camp, and this news is the last thing anyone in boxing wants to hear.” said Peter Fury.

“Huey was battling the disease but was physically broken. We look forward to enduring this fight as it is a great fight for both men and fans around the world. Once again, we apologize to everyone who is involved, but health is the most important thing in boxing. “

Fury vs. Hunter is a WBA World Cup bout that takes the winner forward at the World Heavyweight Championships. BOXXER is working on setting a new date for the fight at the AO Arena Manchester.

“Boxing fans around the world are looking forward to this fight, as are the two fighters. According to today’s news, no one will be more disappointed than Huey Fury and Michael Hunter, but health is paramount. We wish Hugh a speedy recovery while we organize a new date for this match in Manchester, “said Ben Shalom, Founder and CEO of BOXXER.

All tickets purchased for the July 2 event will be valid on the new postponed date when it is announced. Fans who will not be able to attend the new date may also receive a full refund for any tickets purchased on July 2nd.
