Cormac Roth, musician and youngest son of actor Tim Roth, has died of cancer, his family said.

He was confirmed to have died surrounded by his family on Sunday October 16 after a year-long battle with the disease.

Talented guitarist, songwriter and producer Cormac revealed on Instagram that he was diagnosed with stage 3 germ cell cancer in November 2021.

A family statement in honor of Cormac described him as “an exceptionally gifted and extraordinary musician whose passion and love for making music stretched back to when his guitar was bigger than himself”.

A graduate of Bennington College in Vermont, USA, Cormac’s music career was just beginning to take off.

The family’s statement continued: “He was a wild and electric ball of energy, and his spirit was filled with light and kindness.

“As wild as he was, Cormac was also the epitome of kindness. A gentle soul who brought so much happiness and hope to those around her.

“Grief comes in waves as do tears and laughter as we think of this beautiful boy after the 25 years and 10 months we knew him.

“An irrepressible and joyful, wild and wonderful child. Only recently a man. We love him. We will carry it with us wherever we go.’

The statement ended with a quote from Cormac, who said: “Make sure you’re doing what you love.”

Sharing the news of his illness back in November, Cormack said he “battled it daily,” undergoing “chemo, high-dose chemotherapy, drugs, transplants, transfusions, surgeries, etc.”

He explained that he had choriocarcinoma, a rare type of cancer.

Cormack said the disease “has taken half my hearing, 60 pounds of my weight, my confidence and will continue on its murderous path until I can somehow stop it and kill it.”

He continued, “But it didn’t take away my will to survive or my love for making music. It hasn’t gotten rid of me yet.

“If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, please don’t hesitate to reach out as it is an emotional rollercoaster unlike any other.”

He concluded: “Love to you all, please make sure you do what you love. Life is short. It’s chaos. And you never know when it will be you.”

Cormac is survived by his parents, Tim and Nicky, his older brother Hunter and half-brother Jack.
