The second edition of SBC Digital Africa, the continent’s largest virtual event, will shine the spotlight on one of the world’s key growth markets of online gaming and betting.

Growth of Online Gaming

Over the last 12 to 18 months, the world has seen a surge in the popularity of online entertainment as more and more people have begun to work from home and generally spend more time indoors than they have before.

This phenomenon has been mirrored in Africa, where the online gambling industry has exploded over the last year or more, especially in the continent’s biggest markets, such as Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.

Of all the African regions, though, South Africa has the most comprehensive gambling market compared to the global stage, and its gross gaming revenue is expected to sky-rocket to $2.5-billion by the end of 2021.

This is being driven by innovations in the local industry to make betting online as simple and as safe as possible and most of the top online casino sites in South Africa, such as Europa Casino and Spin247, accept rand (ZAR), so South African do not even have to exchange currency for playing games at an online casino.

In Nigeria, online gambling has become such a popular pastime that Bet9ja has become the second most visited website in the country, behind only Google and ahead of the likes of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

Everything You Need To Know About SBC Digital Africa

SBC Digital Africa aims to bring all the brightest minds in the industry across the continent together to share ideas and drive the online gaming industry forward even further. It will deliver an in-depth analysis of the online gaming markets across Africa and unpack the market conditions and developments that influence growth in each of them.

The online event will take place on 30 and 31 March and will feature more than 60 expert speakers from all facets of the online gaming industry, from regulation and law to the growth of competitive gaming and esports and what that could mean for the industry as a whole.

Around 1 500 industry professionals are expected to attend, including everyone from senior executives, regulators, and lawyers to affiliates, marketing specialists, and game developers. Day One will focus on the “Established South Africa” and “East Africa Opportunities” tracks, while Day Two will be primarily about “Emerging West Africa” and “Payments and Players”.

But the event isn’t just about talking about the online gaming industry; there will also be an interactive 20-booth product display area where technology innovators will be able to show off their latest features relating to sportsbooks, online casinos, and even payments. Additionally, there will be a round of networking to encourage delegates to connect and create new business contacts.

“The inaugural edition of our African event was a huge success and generated overwhelmingly positive feedback, including several attendees telling us that connections they made there resulted in new business,” said Rasmus Sojmark, founder and CEO of SBC.

“We’ve worked hard to further develop the event and SBC Digital Africa 2021 represents an even stronger proposition for delegates, exhibitors, and sponsors. That means an agenda that will deliver hard-to-find information about a greater number of markets, the strongest speaker line-up seen for a betting and gaming industry conference in Africa, and some highly-effective ways to showcase products and make new contacts.”

The online event is, without a doubt, the primary opportunity to learn more about the fascinating world of online gaming in Africa. The conference’s key objective is to unite Africa’s betting and gaming industry and get everyone pulling in the same direction so they can compete and innovate on the global stage.
