Claims insurance brand Urban Jungle is adding to its range of home insurance products with the launch of new car insurance, making it the first UK insurance business to go multi-line and offer both home and car insurance.
Car insurance is a legal requirement for all drivers and with high rates over two years1, many drivers face rising costs. The insurance provider has designed the policy to offer customers competitive value, as well as affordable cover for extra people in the home, including housemates, partners, carers or carers.
The new policy can be set up so drivers only pay for the coverage they need and aren’t charged for extras they don’t need. Transparent pricing also means customers can pay their monthly subscription whenever they want, with no hidden charges if they need to cancel.
Urban Jungle also uses fraud detection technology to provide genuine customers with the best prices. The site is designed to identify fraudsters by flagging dishonest behavior, allowing them to be caught before they buy a policy or commit fraud. This unique use of technology allows them to reach a much wider range of customers and keep costs low.
Founded by Jimmy Williams and ex-Google developer Greg Smith in 2016, the company has seen rapid growth and raised more than £16m in Series A funding this year. More than doubling in size during the pandemic, the now 50-person company has helped more than 100,000 customers.
In 2019, Urban Jungle launched its flagship property insurance product specifically designed for renters with equity at its core. This was followed last year by the introduction of building and property insurance for home owners, specifically aimed at first-time buyers, who now account for half of the entire customer base. The launch of the new car insurance policy now allows them to offer more people fair and flexible cover in new markets.
