Viewers mock extreme reality show Hunted Australia as clumsy ‘fugitive’ disguises as NONNA in clothes to avoid capture

Channel 10’s exciting new reality show Hunted Australia delivered some absurd television on Sunday.

“Fugitives” Stati and Matt have gone to great lengths to avoid capture by donning ridiculous clothing that they hope will allow them to “fly under the radar,” but it backfires.

Matt clumsily tried to disguise his dark hair and beard with a blond wig, sunglasses, and a surgical mask.

Stetti, meanwhile, dressed up as an Italian grandmother, or “nonna,” in a dress with flowers from the store and covered her head with a black net.

They turned to their friend Catherine to arrange a harvester for them as transport.

To avoid detection, they made Catherine stand by a pay phone while Stathi told her to meet them under a nearby bridge while he walked her around with her head down and told her not to look at him.

Viewers live-tweeted the strange happenings, with one writing: “We didn’t see Stetty, but we did see a mythical gypsy curse a couple over a payphone.”

Another wrote: “Katherine when was the last time you saw Stathi?” Kathryn: It was in the phone booth yesterday and he was dressed like a nonna.’

“Never seen a nonna hang around a pay phone before,” someone else commented.

Another viewer tweeted: “If the hunters were watching the dress might have fooled them… but two people in their thirties using a pay phone is just a giveaway, something is wrong.”

Channel 10 presenter Kate Langbrook also tweeted about the episode, joking that she couldn’t tell it was Stathi in nonna disguise.

“It’s a wonderful madness. Nothing memorable,” she wrote, adding several crying laughing emojis.
