A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was killed in a collision between a bicycle and a car in London.

Luis Fernanado Balcasar-Sota, 24, of Low Street, Southwark, south-east London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The incident killed a 30-year-old woman who was a passenger in the wind cab, and the driver, also in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

The collision happened in the early hours of Sunday on New Kent Road in Southwark.

The rickshaw stopped in a bus lane outside a Tesco Express branch so one of the passengers, a woman in her 20s who escaped unharmed, could use an ATM, the Evening Standard reported.

Balcazr-Sota is charged with causing death by dangerous driving; causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving; causing death by driving without a license; causing death by driving without insurance; and a restraining order violation.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on August 8.
