There were delays at junctions 9 and 10 anti-clockwise as this part of the M60 was briefly closed.
Traffic continues for up to 45 minutes between junctions and drivers are advised to use caution when approaching and plan ahead when passing.
Press secretary National highways said: “Update: The #M60 is now OPEN anti-clockwise between J10 and J9 near #Manchester following an earlier incident involving police.
“There are residual delays of 45 minutes above normal journey times.”
Queues start from interchange 15 and below.
Due to the closure of Trafford Center or Barton Road and Lostock Road, heavy congestion has formed around the junction.
