Lil Nas X started his Long live the Montero Tour serving queer, black-skinned perfection, using Beyonce’s hip song “Pure/Honey” – and making the internet puke.

He opened his 30th tour in Detroit on Wednesday (September 7), and after a viewer posted a video of the artist “devouring” the choreography to the dancehall-inspired track, fans went wild.

In the video, which is accompanied by hilarious comments from fans, the “Call Me by Your Name” singer and his backups dance the wag, duck walk andtting their lives to Beyoncé’s penultimate track Revivalwhich was greatly inspired queer and trans ballroom pioneers.

The same Twitter user praised the artist’s authenticity and visibility in the music industry, adding: “Also a HUGE thanks to Lil Nas X for a great show! We damn well need to see a black gay man as a real person in this industry! Icon under construction!

Other fans reacted to the video with the same enthusiasm.

one wrote: “It warms my heart to see so much Black, amazing skill,” another said: “He’s taking it!”

Another Twitter user underlined how amazing to see a queer artist live as authentically: “When Lil Nas X came out, people said he came out too soon or for attention. But LOOK at how WRONG he can be.

Lil Nas X used to joke that he was trying to get a children’s entertainment group The Wiggles to be one of the headliners on the tour; we just hope they can be fashionable.
