Kylie Minogue and her real-life ex Jason Donovan finally reunited for their final scenes on Neighbors , sharing some sweet photos on Instagram on Monday.

The blonde superstar, 54, brought back her iconic curls to reprise her role as Charlene Robinson to star alongside Jason, who plays her husband Scott, in the latest episode of the cult soap.

Minogue captioned images of the pair together on her Instagram account: ‘Now we’re back together’, referencing the lyrics to the show’s theme song.

The pint-sized pop star donned her character’s famous mechanic jumpsuit for what was to be her final appearance in the canceled series.

Kylie’s appearance arrives as the cast filmed their final scenes after the series was axed after 37 years.

Two million Australians watched the wedding of a young couple in the Neighbors series on July 1, 1987.

Their union was an even bigger draw when it aired in the UK a year later, attracting 19.6 million viewers, making it the third most watched show of 1988 in Britain.

Kylie and Jason, who were dating in real life at the time, were household names in both countries and each started their music careers in the UK.

Their on-screen relationship began after Scott mistook Charlene for an intruder at his neighbor Madge Ramsay’s house, before eventually discovering that she was Madge’s daughter.

After their marriage, the couple left Erinsborough and moved to Brisbane.

Kylie left Neighbors in June 1988, becoming the first person to win four Logie Awards in one year and the youngest Gold Logie winner.

She went on to a phenomenally successful music career, selling over 80 million albums worldwide.

After leaving Neighbors in 1989, Jason, like Kylie, pursued a pop career and while he may not have been as successful as his on-screen bride, he had a string of hits including Especially For You , Too Many Broken Hearts and Sealed With A Kiss.

And 65-year-old actor Alan Fletcher, who played Dr. Carl Kennedy in the series for 28 years, admitted that filming his last scene was “unbearable”.

The final details of the plot are being kept secret.

Talking to A mirror the actor said, “It was very difficult to hold back the tears when we were speaking the dialogue that was supposed to be the last moment of the show.

“There were hundreds of people in the studio to watch the last cut of the film. We had some speeches, I said a few words. There were tears. There were some celebrations.”

While Kylie and Jason, who played Charlene and Scott Robinson, were filming their roles away from the set, the pop princess’ schedule saw Memento actor Guy (Mike Young) return to Melbourne.

“One of my favorites was Guy Pearce. There was not one person who was asked to do anything at the end who was available who said no; Alan pointed out.

It comes as 5 channel announced Friday the 29th as the broadcast date for the soap’s final episode.

Fans in the UK can watch the iconic Australian series come to an end at 9pm on Friday 29 July with a double special.

It will be followed by the historic finale, which will air later that evening, on TX’s regular schedule at 1:45pm and 6:00pm.

In what is set to be an exciting and emotional finale, fan favorites from the past will return to Ramsay Street to celebrate with Erinsborough locals.

The send-off promises to have something for everyone, spanning all generations and decades from the opening scene in 1985 to the final episode in 2022.

Channel 5 has teased that more surprise announcements will be made in the coming weeks to send the iconic soap off in style.

The Australian soap was axed in March this year after losing its main UK broadcast partner, Channel 5.

The news of the final air date comes after it was revealed that the Neighbors stars will embark on a ‘farewell tour’ of the UK after the final episode.

Key cast members will visit eight cities in England, Scotland and Wales – London, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cardiff – in March 2023. Digital spy.

The soap had previously planned a “conversation series” in 2020 to mark its 35th anniversary, but had to cancel due to Covid.

Those plans have now apparently been relaunched as a ‘farewell tour’, but the ‘key stars’ rumored to be taking part in the tour have not been revealed.

Mr. Gerbison said Herald of the Sun that the recent “leaked” storyline didn’t fully explain how the golden couple of the 80s would return to Ramsay Street. “What I’ve been reading is not what’s happening, and that’s great. He hasn’t come out yet, he said.

Mr Herbison was tight-lipped about the details of their appearance, but he said the cameo was “emotional” for the actors.

“Seeing Kylie as Charlene was a huge highlight. Very special and I think it was a real circle for them too,” he said.

Kylie and Jason’s wedding in the series 34 years ago was watched by 22 million people across Australia and the UK.
