BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua). The number of valid registered trademarks in China topped 40 million by the end of June, up 20.9 percent year-on-year, the country’s top intellectual property regulator said at a press conference on Tuesday.
With the implementation and improvement of the country’s trademark law, foreign investors’ confidence in China’s business environment has further increased.
By the end of June, market players from more than 200 countries and regions had registered trademarks in China, led by trademarks from the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea, said Hu Wenhui, deputy head of the National Intellectual Property Administration.
By the end of June, China had approved 2,493 products with geographical indications (GI), he said. GI collective trademarks, certification trademarks and regional community brands can promote the characteristic industries of rural areas and contribute to rural revitalization.
