Elon Musk denied information that he had a brief affair with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nicole Shanahan.

The Tesla and SpaceX boss said on Twitter that there was “nothing romantic” between him and Ms Shanahan, adding that he and Mr Brin remained friends.

Mr Musk’s tweets came after the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing unidentified sources, that he had a brief affair with Ms Shanahan.

The paper said the affair prompted Mr Breen to file for divorce from Ms Shanahan earlier this year and ended the tech billionaires’ longtime friendship.

Musk responded to a tweet about the story on Twitter, adding that it was a “full moon.”

Tesla and Google, whose parent company is Alphabet Inc, did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and neither Mr. Brin nor Ms. Shanahan were immediately available for comment.

Mr. Breen’s lawyer declined to comment to the WSJ, and Ms. Shanahan did not respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.

Mr. Breen filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” the Journal reported, citing records filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Reuters news agency could not independently determine whether divorce papers had been filed.

In its report, the WSJ also said that Mr. Brin instructed his advisers to sell personal investments in Mr. Musk’s companies after he became aware of the affair.

The newspaper said it could not determine how big the investment was or whether any sales had been made.
