Comedian Dave Hughes has revealed that he has a tumultuous relationship with his new co-star on The Masked singer Australia, Mel B.

The Spice Girls singer, whose real name is Melanie Brown and is also known as Scary Spice, recently joined the judges for the reality show’s 2022 season.

“We have a new panel. We’re actually filming already and it’s busy! Absolutely hectic. I’ll tell you what – I know why Scary Spice is called Scary Spice,” the 51-year-old said during his appearance on The Sunday Project.

“I love her and she knows it, but we have a relationship with her. She ordered me to turn off the signal during our first meeting.’

When asked why the pair tend to clash, Dave said they both have strong personalities.

– Because I have my ideas, and she has hers, and sometimes they conflict. Although I love her. And she knows I love her,” Dave continued.

He went on to explain that Mel gets annoyed when he chooses the names of dead celebrities, trying to guess who is behind the infamous masks in the offbeat singing competition.

“I keep second guessing the dead people on the show. She doesn’t understand, she said it’s my business. She just doesn’t understand, he said.

Dave added that Mel “knows every celebrity in the world” and is annoyed when she guesses her A-list friends are behind the masks.

“I love her and she knows it, but we have a relationship with her. She told me to turn the beeper off when we first met,” Dave said

“When I guess Taylor Swift, she says, ‘I know Taylor.’ She’s not that tall.” I said, “You haven’t seen her in months – she may have shrunk.”

It comes after the 2022 judging panel was unveiled last month.

Channel 10 announced in an Instagram post on June 9 that Mel B, Chrissy Swan and Abby Chatfield will be joining returning judge Dave Hughes.

“We never run out of surprises, so we decided to give you three! Let’s hear it for our new members!’ said the spokesman.

Mel, 47, said she was “very excited” to be back in Australia.

“I-I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be a judge on ‘Australian Masked Singer!’ she wrote on Instagram.

“I’m so excited, I can’t wait to start sniffing out all the clues and having fun with the rest of the panel. Watch out Australia, I’m coming!’
