The South African actress died Sunday at her home, according to an Instagram post Monday by her talent agency, Eye Media Artists.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Busisiva Luraya,” the Johannesburg-based talent agency said in a statement on behalf of her family.

“Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her home on Sunday 07/10/2022 by medical personnel,” the Instagram post said.

“The cause of her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy,” the statement added.

“We humbly ask that you allow us as a family to come to terms with this tragic news. We thank you for your support thus far and will provide additional information as it becomes available,” the post concluded.

Eye Media Artists captioned the post: “Rest in peace @busi_lurayi.”

The South African actress played the rebellious Tumi Sella in the Netflix series How to Ruin Christmas, which premiered on the streaming service in 2020.

The three-episode comedy follows bridesmaid Tumi as she tries to make amends for ruining her sister’s Christmas wedding.

The second season, titled How to Ruin Christmas: The Funeral, was released last December with four episodes.

The series was renewed last month for a third season under the title How to Ruin Christmas: Children’s Day.

Starting in 2008, Lurai played the scheming lawyer Winnie Molepo in the South African legal drama series Sokhulu and Partners. She also appeared in Sokhulu and Partners II.

Her other credits include the South African sitcom City Ses’la and its spin-off Ses’Top La, as well as the drama series Wild at Heart and a 2006 episode of ER, according to her IMDb page.
