Delivery Platform Sorted appointed former CTO of Amazon Web Services and The Hut Group as CTO.

The Manchester company has tapped Peter Ennis, who will be tasked with developing a cloud-based platform for retailers around the world.

Founded in 2010 by David Grimes with the launch of, the company has grown from his parents’ kitchen table to a global software company focused on aggressive growth in the United States and now around the world.

Grimes, who remains involved in the business, handed over day-to-day management to Carmen Carey last year following a growth investment led by Chrysalis Investments and Arete Capital Partners of around £30m.

The company claims to offer more efficient carrier management and delivery tracking systems to reduce pressure on warehouses and customer service.

In June 2022 Sorted – 10th by our count RetailTech 50 ranking – the volume of shipments through the Ship platform increased by 49% compared to the previous year, and the Track product increased by 127% during the same period.

The platform has grown its customer base by 114% over the past three years as demand for e-commerce and online delivery has accelerated.

Ennis following the appointment of Colin Tenwick as non-executive chairman and also opened offices in London.

“With more than 20 years in the industry, he has combined his hands-on and business skills to deliver quality products and services with the ability to scale in the most demanding environments. This represents the next stage for Sorted as we focus our cloud offering to support small and medium-sized businesses internationally.”
