Ana de Armas revealed her dog Elvis played Marilyn Monroe’s dog in Netflix biopic Blonde

Ana de Armas revealed that her dog Elvis was used as Marilyn Monroe’s dog while promoting the biopic Blonde on Tuesday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Seth, 48, asked the Cuban actress, 34, about the “dramatic scene with the dog” in the film directed by Andrew Dominick, 54.

“When I watch it, I don’t know how to feel because of course it’s a very serious important scene in the movie. And at the same time, I just look at him and melt,” Ana said.

Seth then showed side by side pictures of Marilyn with her dog and Anna in character with her real dog.

“This is Elvis. This is my dog, – Ana said proudly.

Seth asked when it became clear that Elvis was the perfect dog for the role.

“Did Elvis shoot his nose once?” Seth quipped.

Ana noted that the dog was given to Marilyn by Frank Sinatra.

“Obviously the dog’s name is Mafia,” Ana laughed.

“We found out about it, and Andrew, as a great visionary he saw, was like Marilyn Monroe. Apparently, he saw that Elvis was a perfect fit for the mob. And he was the one, he had the idea that we needed Elvis in the movie,” Ana said.

Seth asked if Ana was stressed knowing the team was relying on Elvis.

“Well, he was only in two scenes. The one that didn’t pass, Anna answered.

“Did you have to break it to him?” Seth joked.

Ana said Elvis was “very well behaved”.

“He’s 13, so he was on set with me,” Ana said.

Seth also noted that the film’s slower pace made it seem like she took her time in her performance.

“Well, that’s not what happened. I was actually very hasty. We had no money. We didn’t have time to shoot the film, Ana said.

“Well, they should have used your dog. It’s a dead giveaway,” Seth joked.

“Pretty much,” Ana said with a laugh.

“Blonde” had its world premiere earlier this month at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and began a limited release in US theaters on Friday.

The NC-17 film will be released on September 28 on Netflix.
