After her roles in Unfortunate and both Mama Mia! movies, Amanda Seyfried is certainly no stranger to musical adaptation on the big screen.
However, she revealed that there was one major musical role that eluded her recently despite her best efforts to land the part.
In an interview with Behind the scenes, Bad girls star was asked to do “the wildest thing” she’s ever done to land the part.
“I have dreams that I’m still auditioning for Wicked,” she said. “Last summer when I played Elizabeth [on The Dropout, for which she was nominated for an Emmy]over the weekend I auditioned in person for the role of Glinda in the movie version of Wicked….
“I wanted it so bad I thought, ‘You know what? Yes, I have to play the last scene of “Elimination” on Tuesday. I’ll give my Sunday to you.” I literally bent over, playing the hardest role of my life.
“But I think it also taught me how far I’ve come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since Les Mis, I’ve been like, “I need to be better.” I need to do better.’ So, whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I’m finally ready.”
The role of Glinda eventually went to a pop singer Ariana Grandeand Broadway performer Taylor Louderman revealed that she also tried to play the character.
